The author and the Art Director of the classic dance course is Natalya Voskresenskaya, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation.

Art Director is Boris Golodnitsky, the Laureate of the State Prize of the Mari-El Republic.

§   Brilliant, captivating music by S. Prokofyev

§   Classic but nevertheless permanently contemporary plot of the great Shakespearian tragedy

§   Multi-genre performance

What can be more beautiful than such a synergy of the art dance, theatre and music for the young artists, graduates of “The Governorate Ballet School” Dance College, to express themselves?

There has been a lot of serious and interesting work done, to be more exact:

§   The synthesis of highly skilled acting and gripping fighting scenes helps to depict a real world of tragedy so that nobody can doubt its authenticity.

§   Sincerity and inner monologue band all the performance scenes together.

§   The students’ youth, beauty, professionalism and dedication helped to create a harmonic fascinating ballet which has became an unexpected turn in their professional life.

Cast of characters – the fifth-year students:

  • Romeo – Denis Obuhov
  • Mercutio (Romeo’s friend) – Ivan Tsarenko
  • Juliet – Lubava Demina
  • Juliet's father (the Capulet clan) – Aleksei Yakovlev
  • Juliet’s mother (the Capulet clan) – Veronika Gorbunova
  • Tybalt (Juliet’s brother) – Dmitri Komlev
  • The guests at the Capulets' ball – the fifth and second year students

Romantic scenes of Romeo and Juliet’s meetings are based on duet dance and performed by Denis Obuhov and Lubava Demina.

Tybalt and Mercutio’s choreography (Dmitri Komlev and Ivan Tsarenko respectively) is based on the emphatic lexis of classic dance with powerful fight scenes where the characters skillfully demonstrate the basics of fencing.

The ball scenes in the Capulets’ house were inspired by “Pavana” and reflect the manner and some elements of historical dance. Its strict nature is interrupted by a whirlwind of temperamental “Tarantella" which is a folk and academic dance.

Students made an ample use of Stanislavsky’s system the basics of which were taught at acting skills classes.

And they created vivid, bright and individual characters which live on stage and make us believe.

The performance captures your imagination and makes you feel, sympathize, love and cry.
