guest tour of French citiesFrom the 4th of March to the 13th of April “The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” enjoyed its first European guest tour of French cities which took place within the framework of cultural program “Year of France in Russia and Year of Russia in France”. The fifth-year students of “The Governorate Ballet School” college were the youngest members of the company. For many of them it was the first ever trip abroad which marked the beginning of their professional career.

guest tour of French citiesThe Ballet’s guest tour list included 35 cities and 35 solo concerts. Apart from France the Ballet also gave performance in Geneva, Switzerland, and state-city Luxembourg.

During one and a half month’s time of the guest tour "Kostroma" ballet made 16,801 km by bus.

It received a warm welcome in Provence, Burgundy, Champagne and Bordeaux, from the snowy Alps to the Mediterranean.

On the 13th of April the Ballet presented its program about Great Enigmatic Rus “The National Show of Russia” on the main stage in Paris in PALAIS DES ÑONGRES hall where Ekaterina Berezina, a fifth-year student of “The Governorate Ballet School”, successfully made her debut. She was given the most challenging solo parts on this tour such as a part in “Piterskaya” and “Ozertso-ozertse” and a role of Odetta in the duet dance of a ballet dancer and an astronaut in a choreographic composition staged by Yuri Tsarenko called “Cheers for the country of Heroes!”

guest tour of French citiesIgor Nikolayevich Slunyayev, the Governor of Kostroma region, was a honoured guest of “The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” show in PALAIS DES CONGRES.

The concert was held within the framework of the Russian Year in France as well as a part of Kostroma region presentation in Paris which had taken place the day before in an old mansion of the Russian Consulate residence.

High profile politicians, art representatives and international show business stars came to see the performance, one of them being famous designer Pierre Cardin who was the most glamorous representative of the fashion world at the show and who afterwards stayed to share his impressions with Art Director of the Ballet Yuri Tsarenko and President Elena Tsarenko.

The main target of the dance school "The Governorate Ballet School” is to train young, strong and skilled generations of dancers for “The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” by combining traditional and experimental educational methods, by instilling patriotism and awakening the feeling of love towards Russian history and culture.
