01.06.2008 The Art of Dance through the eyes of the children!

On the first of June on the International Children's Day “The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” and "The Governorate Ballet School" Dance College hold the TRADITIONAL CHARITY CONCERT “The World Called the Art of Dance”.

For quite a few years the Directors of the National Ballet “Kostroma” Elena and Yuri Tsarenko together with Maria Veshkina, the Director of “The Governorate Ballet School" has been working on a new idea of creating a charity dance project which should be of current interest and educational nature and involve usage of the up-to-date technologies and special effects to meet the world standards.

It is for a reason why this idea was born in their minds. The organizers aim at esthetic upbringing of the contemporary young generation in Kostroma and Kostroma region by means of spectacular dance culture. The participants of the project are children of different age and interest groups. The artists, “The Governorate Ballet School" youngest students as well as older students and graduates, are going to perform for the audience consisting of children from orphanages, boarding schools, incomplete and low income families, winners of various academic and sports competitions and which took place in Kostroma and Kostroma region while the artists.

It was obvious what date to choose for the event. Summer is the time of long waited for vacations, fun and entertainment. And the whole world celebrates the International Children’s Day.

The dream came true last year in 2007. For two years now the traditional charity concert dedicated to the International Children’s Day has taken place in the concert hall of the Concert and Exhibition Centre “Gubernsky” with the support of the Department of Social Security, the Department of Education and Science of Kostroma region and Kostroma region Administration.

The dance project of the National Ballet “Kostroma” and “The Governorate Ballet School" World Called the Art of Dance has become a symbolic present for the young Kostromavites. The unusual name of the charity concert reflects the aim and the purpose of the idea that the organizers bore in mind. On this very day the magic world of dance opens its doors and welcomes you in.

Dance has always had magic powers to unite people and fill them with energy and the sense of beauty. The World Called the Art of Dance affects deeply the mind and the soul; this is how the participants of the event described their feelings. Young artists give away a lot of positive emotions receiving in return a great tornado of applause and smiles of their audience.

To fulfill the charity mission of the Ballet and the School is a matter of crucial importance for their professional life. The purpose of the event is to create warm and family like atmosphere, to give happiness, to provoke patriotic feelings, to teach kindness and good morals and may be to help chose a profession.

This year the following people are going to participate in the celebration:

  • the youngest students of the “Children Dance School” (aged 7 – 9)
  • preparatory ballet classes of the Dance College (aged 11 - 12)
  • the third-year students of the Dance College (aged 15 – 17)
  • the Dance College graduates (at present "Kostroma" Ballet artists)

The pinnacle of the celebration is going to be the National Ballet “Kostroma” performance; they are going to present some turns from the new program “Great Enigmatic Rus” and to show with the help of their skills one side of the many-sided World Called the Art of Dance.

The main target of the dance school "The Governorate Ballet School” is to train young, strong and skilled generations of dancers for “The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” by combining traditional and experimental educational methods, by instilling patriotism and awakening the feeling of love towards Russian history and culture.
