Festival of Dance Colleges in Kazan"The Governorate Ballet School” students took part in the Fourth International Festival of Dance Colleges in Kazan, Tatarstan.

It seems it was not such a long time ago that the happy students of “The Governorate Ballet School” (now graduates) came back from the first in their professional life Festival in Kazan. The participation in the Festival was a very important event for the Dance College as well as for Kostroma region’s cultural life.

But time flies. The first generation of the students of the Rubtsovs, who are permanent teachers of folk stage dance in “The Governorate Ballet School”, gave way to the second one. Having graduated from the College the first students became the National Ballet “Kostroma" artists and the second enrollment class are in their third year now.

It was the latter ones who went to represent "The Governorate Ballet School" Dance College and their native city Kostroma at the Fourth International Festival of Dance Schools and Colleges. The Festival is traditionally held once in two years on the main stage of the Tatarstan Republic in Tatar Academic State Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Musa Gialil in Kazan. Such festivals are a crucial part of professional experience of every choreography education institution because it is there that the students and the teachers have a chance to share their experience, discuss different problems and attend brilliant leading coaches’ master classes.

This year students from 20 best choreographic schools and college in Russia And CIS countries gathered at the Festival. The folk school was represented by Colleges from Krasnodar, Kazan. Moscow, Kostroma, Naberezhnye Chelny. The classic school was represented by the Komi Republic, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Krasnodar, Saratov, Perm, Voronezh, Yakutia, the Mari-El Republic, Cheboksary, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Belorussia.

The four days of the Festival went on in accordance with a tight schedule. There were rehearsals and concerts but the students also had a chance to get acquainted with each other and the teaching methods of high profile coaches. For all comers Y. M. Sidorov, a teacher of Perm State Dance College, gave a master class of classic dance and G. M. Apanaeva, the Director of "The School and the Studio” affiliated with the State Academic Company of Folk Dance named after Igor Moiseev, People’s Artist of Russia, gave an exclusive master class of folk dance.

Festival of Dance Colleges in KazanFriendly and artistic environment helped our student of “The Governorate Ballet School" to tune for their very important performance. And here it was – the long waited for first success! The round dance “Spring Lyrical" staged by Yuri Tsarenko was marked as exclusive.

The synergy original staging, music, costumes and naturally the emotional manner of presentation rightly drew the strictest critics' attention. The pinnacle of our students’ performance was the turn “Barynya” staged by choreographer G. Vlasenko which captured the audience with its dynamics and tempo. It got a big round of applause and the audience did not want to let the young artists go and called them an encore. “We wanted to cry with happiness at that moment! Now we understand the words our teachers, Irina Valeryevna and Aleksei Mikhailovich Rubtsov, who once said: “You have to live on stage!” the third-year students shared their emotions.

L. D. Shevchenko, the Director of Perm State Dance College, and G. M. Apanaeva, the Director of "The School and the Studio” affiliated with the State Academic Company of Folk Dance named after Igor Moiseev, People’s Artist of Russia, personally congratulated Maria Veshkina, the Director of “The Governorate Ballet School” Dance College, and the Rubtsovs couple on successful performance. "The Governorate Ballet School" students received from M. K. Leonova, the President of Moscow State Academy of Dance, People's Artist of Russia, professor, an invitation to take part in the Festival Show of Russian Dance Colleges dedicated to the 235th anniversary of Moscow State Academy of Dance which is going to take place from the 24th to the 30th of November 2008 on stage of Bolshoi Theatre.

The Festival in Kazan marked the beginning of “The Governorate Ballet School” college students' artistic way. The enigmatic, beautiful and inexhaustible world called the Art of Dance is waiting for them.

We are delighted to know that the exploration of this world starts in their rich in cultural heritage home city of Kostroma.

The main target of the dance school "The Governorate Ballet School” is to train young, strong and skilled generations of dancers for “The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” by combining traditional and experimental educational methods, by instilling patriotism and awakening the feeling of love towards Russian history and culture.
